  • Kitty is an affectionate term for kitten, or a cat in general.
    • Kitty is frequently used as the name of a cat whose real name is unknown, or one without a name. Many owners even use the term with named cats.
    • "Here kitty kitty" is a common phrase taught to a cat, asking it to come to the caller. It often is used to tell the cat that it is feeding time, petting time, or time to go to the vet when the cat is reluctant to come.

    • Kitty litter is the sand-like material used to fill litter boxes.
  • Kitty is also a collection of money temporarily held until awarded to winners in a gambling event, as in a pool or poker pot. This sense is etymologically unrelated to kitten; it instead is derived from kit.
  • Kitty is a female nickname, typically associated with Catherine and variants. Many real people and fictional characters use the name.
