Komatsu, Ishikawa - Definition and Overview

Komatsu (小松市; -shi) is a city located in Ishikawa, Japan.

As of 2003, the city has an estimated population of 108,704 and the density of 292.90 persons per km². The total area is 371.13 km².

The city was founded on December 1, 1940. The second largest city in Ishikawa prefecture.

An hour or so from Kanazawa (the capital of Ishikawa Prefecture). The only airport in Ishikawa is housed here.

Hideki Matsui, a current player for the New York Yankees, was born and raised here. A museum dedicated to him resides here.
