KOTOR is also an abbreviation for the Star Wars game, Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic

Kotor is a town in southwestern Montenegro, population 19,000, Kotor municipality 23,481 (2003).

The old town of Kotor, surrounded by an impressive city wall, is very well preserved and protected by UNESCO. Between 1420-1797 Kotor and its surroundings belonged to Venice and the Venetian influence is evident in the architecture of the city. The bay of Kotor ("Boka Kotorska") on the shores of the Adriatic Sea is the southern-most fjord in Europe.

In recent years, Kotor has seen a steady increase in tourists attraced by both the natural beauty of the Boka Kotorska and the old town of Kotor itself.

Up until the beginning of the 20th century, Croats constistuded the majority in Kotor as well as in other places around the Boka Kotorska.
