Krikor Naregatsi (951-1003) - the monk, the Armenian poet, the mistical philosopher and the theologist. Was born in family of the writer. Almost all life has lived in the monasteries of Narek (in G.Armenia, now Turkey) where taught at monastic school. The author of mystical interpretation on Song the Songs (977) and numerous poetic writings. Poetry of Naregatsi is deep "biblical", it is penetrated with images, themes and realities of sacred history, it's distinguished with intimate, personal character. The mystical poem "Book of Lamentations" (for the first time was published in 1673 in Marseilles), translated to many languages, has played a significant role in the development of the Armenian literary language.
