Kvinesdal - Definition

Kvinesdal is a municipality in the county of Vest-Agder, Norway, with 5,543 inhabitants as of January 1, 2004. It is a coastal municipality, barely reaching the North Sea in the south. In the west it borders on Flekkefjord and Sirdal municipalities, and Åseral, Hægebostad, Lyngdal and Flekkefjord in the east and south. It also borders on Aust-Agder county in the north.

The municipality has its name from the river Kvina, which runs through it. The name means 'Kvina-valley'.
