Kyzyl (Кызы́л, meaning "red" in Tuvan language) is a town in Russia, capital of the republic of Tuva. Kyzyl is located exactly in the geographical center of Asia.
It was founded in 1914 as Belotsarsk (Белоца́рск), in 1918 renamed Khem-Beldyr (Хем-Белды́р), and in 1926 renamed Kyzyl.
Population 102,300 (2001).
