L (New York City Subway) - Definition and Overview |

The L 14th Street-Canarsie Local is a service of the New York City Subway, running local along the full length of the BMT Canarsie Line. The service is colored gray as the only route to use the Canarsie Line. For more information on the current service, including stations, as well as history of the line, see the Canarsie Line article.
Former uses
The L, being a local train, was originally the LL. Prior to 1969, the same service was assigned the BMT number 16.
