|
- The title given to this article is incorrect due to technical limitations. The correct title is Ł.
Ł or ł, known in English as L with stroke, is a letter of Polish, Kashubian, Sorbian, and Łacinka (Latin Belarusian) alphabet. It represents the Lekhitic/East Slavic continuation of Proto-Slavic non-palatal l; see Dark L.
Ł appeared first in 16th century, in Polish texts.
Nowadays in Polish, Ł is normally pronounced almost exactly as w in English as consonant, i.e. in were, will, firewall but not in new or straw.
