The Lake of Hali is a fictional location: it first appeared in Ambrose Bierce's An Inhabitant of Carcosa. Both of the the names of Hali and Carcosa were re-used by Robert W. Chambers in his story The Repairer of Reputations (1895), one of his stories concerning the infamous book The King in Yellow. and was later referred to in the works of H.P. Lovecraft.
The Great Old One Hastur is connected with it, or it more probably is connected with Hastur. The ruined city of Carcosa was located on the shores of the lake of Hali. There are references to "the City and the Lake" in stories related to Hastur.
Hali is also the name of a lake and a tower on Darkover, the planet on which many of Marion Zimmer Bradley's science fiction novels take place.
