Langley Park is a census-designated place located in Prince George's County, Maryland.

Geography

Langley Park is located at 38°59'39" North, 76°58'54" West (38.994060, -76.981759)¹.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the place has a total area of 2.1 km² (0.8 mi²). 2.1 km² (0.8 mi²) of it is land and none of it is covered by water.

Demographics

As of the census² of 2000, there are 16,214 people, 4,592 households, and 3,342 families residing in the area. The population density is 7,634.5/km² (19,678.8/mi²). There are 4,716 housing units at an average density of 2,220.6/km² (5,723.8/mi²). The racial makeup of the community is 41.68% White, 26.46% African American, 0.89% Native American, 3.39% Asian, 0.19% Pacific Islander, 21.43% from other races, and 5.96% from two or more races. 63.49% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There are 4,592 households out of which 43.2% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 41.3% are married couples living together, 18.1% have a female householder with no husband present, and 27.2% are non-families. 16.1% of all households are made up of individuals and 2.8% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 3.51 and the average family size is 3.70.

In the community the population is spread out with 27.4% under the age of 18, 16.1% from 18 to 24, 40.3% from 25 to 44, 12.9% from 45 to 64, and 3.3% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 27 years. For every 100 females there are 126.8 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 132.8 males.

The median income for a household in the community is $37,939, and the median income for a family is $36,018. Males have a median income of $22,356 versus $21,931 for females. The per capita income for the community is $12,733. 16.8% of the population and 11.3% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total population, 21.4% of those under the age of 18 and 6.7% of those 65 and older are living below the poverty line.
