A lattice steel pylon is a pylon consisting of a steel framework construction. Lattice steel pylons can be used for powerlines of all voltages, however their use for lines with operating voltages under 50kV is quite rare. For lines with operating voltages over 50kV Lattice steel pylons are to most used form of pylons.
Latticed steel pylons are usually screwed together at the place of assembly from individual parts. This makes possible also the realization of very high constructions (as a rule up to 100 meters, in special cases as also during the Elbe crossing 1 and Elbe crossing 2 more). In addition, the assembly of Lattice steel pylon can take place with a crane, becomes frequent a kind pulley-block, which uses Derrick for the assembly. Lattice steel pylons consist as a rule of winkle profiled steel beams (L or T-beams). Tubing lattice constructions are rare in Germany. For very high lattice steel pylon, in particular for the lower parts, frequently trusses are used. Lattice steel pylons can be dismantled if necessary and be rebuilt if necessary to a new location. However this procedure quite usual in practice is meaningful only with constructions, which are in good condition.
