Lenticular printing is a two-step process consisting of creating a lenticular image and then placing a lenticular lens screen on top. The combined effect can be used to show two or more different images simply by changing the angle one views the print from. By increasing the number of images and taking them in a sequence (30+), one can even show a short video of about one second. Alternatively, one can use several images of the same object from slightly different angles and then create a lenticular print, which will then create a three-dimensional effect.
The lenticular image is created by splicing multiple images into small strips and then interlacing them together. Once this has been done, a lenticular lens is applied to the image. Most large scale lenticular printjobs contain both the lens and the image sealed together, but it is possible to reuse a lenticular lens for multiple images.
