Gundam Seed

Orb / Clyne Faction

• Kira Yamato - (Coordinator) Protagonist who first pilots the Strike Gundam but later upgrades to Freedom Gundam. His childhood friendship with Athrun is one of the pivotal elements in the series. Suspected of being a Newtype.
• Athrun Zala - (Coordinator) Pilot of Aegis Gundam and upgrades to Justice Gundam after losing Aegis in a battle with Kira. His childhood friendship with Kira is one of the pivotal elements in the series. His father, Patrick Zala, is a member of PLANT's High Council, and later the Chairman, and through a political arrangement between Patrick and Siegel Clyne, he is engaged to Lacus.
• Cagalli Yula Athha - (Natural) Daughter of the President of Orb also Kira's Natural twin sister. She later pilots Strike Rouge to support Athrun in the final battle. She also has the ability to go into SEED mode.
• Lacus Clyne - (Coordinator) A very popular idol in PLANT and the daughter of Siegel Clyne, PLANT's Chairman and later a member of the High Council. Through a political arrangement, she and Athrun are engaged. But later she falls in love with Kira, and Athrun falls in love with Cagalli.
• Murrue Ramius - (Natural) Captain of the Archangel and Flaga's love interest. Her old boyfriend was a mobile armor pilot who was killed in action. Captain Ramius is a stern but fair commanding officer who treats Kira Yamato as a younger brother.
• Mu La Flaga - Top Newtype Mobile Armor pilot, later pilots a rebuilt Strike Gundam. He is Al Da Flaga's son. Mwu and his father's clone Rau Le Crueset are the last Newtypes in the world. Like Ramius, Mwu treats Kira as a younger brother, taking the younger pilot frequently under his wing to teach him the finer points of piloting.
• Miriallia Haw - (Natural) Tolle's girlfriend who is in charge of communications in Archangel and later becomes friends with Deakka.
• Kuzzey Buskirk - (Natural) Part of Kira's group but later leaves Archangel when the Archangel crew defects to Orb.
• Tolle Koenig - (Natural) Miriallia's boyfriend and backup pilot for the Sky Grasper. He is later beheaded by Athrun while piloting the FX-550 Skygrasper.
• Sai Argyle - (Natural) Flay's fiance and Archangel crew member.
• Dearka Elsman - (Coordinator) A former member of ZAFT and the pilot of Buster Gundam. He later befriends Miriallia and joins the Clyne Faction after being captured by the Archangel. Mitsuo Fukuda, the show's director, admitted that he had Dearka switching sides due to the poor sales figures of GAT-X103 Buster Gundam related merchandises.
• Jackie Tonomura - (Natural) Archangel's original crew member, in charge of CIC.
• Dalida Lolaha Chandra II - (Natural) Archangel's original crew member, in charge of CIC.
• Romero Pal - (Natural) Archangel's original crew member, first in charge of fire control, then CIC.
• Arnold Newmann - (Natural) Archangel's original crew member, in charge of driving Archangel itself.
• Andrew Waltfeld - (Coordinator) The "Desert Tiger" of ZAFT who pilots a LaGOWE. Develops an interest in the twins (Kira Yamato and Cagalli Yula Athha). He is first believed to have been killed by Kira but survives the battle, losing an arm and an eye. He then goes on to become the captain of the Eternal.
• Kojiro Murdoch - (Natural) Archangel's original crew member, a veteran mechanic.
• Jean Carry- (Coordinator) A Professor of engineering/MS pilot. Known as "Glittering Star J". Jean piloted a captured ZGMF-1017 GINN and then a GAT-01D Long Dagger Fortressta for the Earth Alliance before defecting to the Junk Guild, then piloted an MBF-M1 Astray after joining the Clyne Faction shortly before the end of the war.
• Barry Ho- (Natural) Orb Ace Pilot. The protector of the Orb vessel Kusanagi, pilots a MBF-M1A Astray. Barry is a skilled pilot and martial arts master with the nickname "God Hand" (though he is an atheist, with the word "Godless" painted on his M1A Astray), but is extremely shy with women.

OMNI

• Natarle Badgiruel - (Natural) Executive Officer of Archangel and later Captain of Dominion. She is later repeatedly shot by Azrael and dies when Dominion is destroyed from Archangel's beam attack. Badgiruel is a stern martinet who operates strictly by the book, even when it conflicts with Captain Ramius.
• Lewis Halberton - (Natural) Commander of 8th Fleet. Rear Admiral Halberton is Lt. Murrue Ramius's mentor. Admiral Halberton sacrifices his life to protect Archangel during her descent to the Earth's surface.
• Crot Buer - (Natural/Living CPU) Pilot of Raider Gundam and is addicted to performance enhancing drugs to have co-ordinator powers for a short period of time. He is later killed by a combined attack by Deakka and Yzak
• Shani Andras - (Natural/Living CPU) Pilot of Forbidden Gundam and is addicted to performance enhancing drugs to have co-ordinator powers for a short period of time. He is later killed by Yzak Jule
• Orga Sabnak - (Natural/Living CPU) Pilot of Calamity Gundam and is addicted to performance enhancing drugs to have co-ordinator powers for a short period of time. He is later killed by Athrun Zara
• Murata Azrael - (Natural) Leader of Blue Cosmos, an extreme right-wing group dedicated to destroying Coordinators for a "Blue and Pure Earth" and in charge of the new OMNI Gundam pilots. He tries to kill Natarle when she disobeys orders, and manages to kill Flaga. However, he is killed when Dominion is destroyed.
• Flay Allster - (Natural) Hates Coordinaters, but gives herself to Kira in order to manipulate him. She later becomes La Crueset's prisoner and later escapes to become the Dominion's commucation officer. However, Flay returns to Archangel after being ordered to abandon ship by Natarle. She later dies when her escape pod is shot down by Le Crueset. Too bad she never gets to tell Kira how she truly felt about him.
• Edward Harrelson - (Natural) Earth Alliance ace pilot. Piloted a F-7D Spearhead fighter jet, GAT-01 Strike Dagger, GAT-01D1 Duel Dagger Fortresta, GAT-333 Raider Full Spec, and now pilots a GAT-X133 Sword Calamity Unit 2. Prefers hand-to-hand combat. Also called "Ed the Ripper". Seen in a Gundam Seed Astray short OAV promo to promote SEED-MSV model kits.
• Jane Houston - (Natural) Earth Alliance underwater ace pilot. Piloted a prototype GAT-X255 Forbidden Blue and now pilots a GAT-706S Deep Forbidden mass production amphibious mobile suit. Nicknamed "White Whale" by ZAFT pilots for her underwater prowess.
• Morgan Chevalier - (Newtype/Natural) Earth Alliance Newtype ace pilot, and a Eurasian tank commander before the introduction of EA mobile suits. Piloted a GAT-01 Strike Dagger, and piloted a GAT-01A1 "105 Dagger" Gunbarrel unit until the end of the war. Also known the "Mad Dog of the Moonlight", although he is actually quite calm and methodical in battle.
• Canard Pars - (Coordinator) Eurasian Federation ace pilot. Canard is a product of the same "Ultimate Coordinator" project as Kira Yamato, and is possibly his older brother. Piloted the CAT1-X1/3 Hyperion Gundam Unit 1. Defected to the Junk Guild at the end of the war; now pilots the rebuilt YMF-X000A/H Dreadnought H.
• Rena Imelia - (Natural) Earth Alliance ace pilot and combat instructor. Piloted a GAT-01D1 Duel Dagger Fortresta, GAT/A-01E2 Buster Dagger, and GAT-X133 Sword Calamity. While she is a Natural, Rena has reflexes on par with Coordinators and prefers to use a Coordinator OS in her mobile suits. Rena initially trained the EA's mobile suit pilots, but was later assigned as a combat pilot herself. She is also known by the nickname "Sakura Burst", referring to both her combat style in the Buster Dagger and to a birthmark on her right shoulder.
• Balsam Arendo - (Natural) Eurasian Federation ace pilot. Piloted the CAT1-X2/3 Hyperion Gundam Unit 2. Killed by Canard when he deserted from the Eurasian Federation.

PLANTs/ZAFT

• Patrick Zala - (Coordinator) Athrun's father and escalates the ZAFT-OMNI war in his quest to purge the world of Naturals. He believes Coordinators are the only Humans for the Cosmic Era. The war has also pushed him into extreme measures such as the use of the Neutron Jammer Cancellers, the creation of the Eternal, and the building of a superweapon called GENESIS. He is later shot by a dissenting soldier who objects to his plan to vaporize Earth.
• Sigel Clyne - (Coordinator) The Chairman of the PLANT Supreme Council (the government that ZAFT is part of) and father of Lacus Clyne. He is more moderate in seeking a peaceful solution to the war and doesn't have the hate most have towards naturals. Unfortunately, this had made him and his supporters the minority in the PLANT council and he gets brutally gunned down by Patrick's minions searching for his daughter.
• Nicol Amalfi - (Coordinator) Pilot of Blitz Gundam, he later gets killed by Kira. Has what may be the worst last words in anime history ("Mother... my piano...").
• Yzak Jule - (Coordinator) Pilot of Duel Gundam, gets a scar on the forehead from Kira. He later joins Dearka in the final battle to fight OMNI Enforcer and save the PLANTs.
• Rau Le Creuset - (Newtype/Natural) A failed clone of Al Da Flaga and is hellbent on destroying all of humanity. He is killed by Kira Yamato at the final battle. Rau and Al Da's son Mwu La Flaga are the last Newtypes in the world. Rau's surname means "Crucible" in French.
• Miguel Aiman - (Coordinator) Known as the "Magic Bullet Of Dusk", Miguel was a ZAFT ace under the command of Le Creuset, who normally piloted a customized GINN tailored to his combat style. Unfortunately, Miguel ended up meeting two bits of bad luck that ultimately cost him his life - his custom GINN was severely damaged by Serpent Tail mercenary ace Gai Murakumo, forcing him to use a standard GINN in the Heliopolis assault - where he was killed by the Strike Gundam piloted by Kira Yamato.
• Goud Veia- (Coordinator) Known as the "The Hero Of ZAFT". Veia was a ZAFT ace along with Miguel & Elijiah, he was the the best of the three, for this outstanding skills that Brought ZAFT many victories that turn the tide over the O.M.N.I ENFORCERS Mass Forces. During & after the Eleven Month War Veia develops a split peronality problem because of Elijah, one side is kind, helpful, the other side is revengeful that likes to kill anyone in the area, this side really hates Elijah Kiel. He piloted a customized GINN tailored to his combat style speciality for this killer side, that makes him famous.

-Liteiria Space Colony- Veia got this wish 'Death', thanks to Elijah.

• Ash Gray - (Coordinator) ZAFT Special Forces Ace Pilot. Freaky Coordinator that has extra eyes on his forehead. Pliots the ZGMF-X11A Regenerate Gundam. Later Killed by Lowe & Gai.

Civilians/Other

• Uzumi Nara Athha - (Natural) Leader of the Emirate of Orb; later commits suicide with the rest of Orb forces to stop OMNI from occupying their nation
• George Glenn - (Coordinator) Graduated from MIT, became an American football star and Olympic athlete, served in the Air Force, develops PLANT as research labs and headed the Jupiter exploration project. He is the first Coordinator and gives away his genetic secret to the world, sowing the Coordinator-Natural rift. He was asassainated in C.E. 53 by a young Natural, further inflaming both sides.
• Evidence 01 - Also called the "Winged Whale", it is an extraterrestial fossil that was found orbiting Jupiter by George Glenn, proving the existence of life beyond Earth. The discovery weakened the influence of many religions, which in turn led to a temporary increase in tolerance for Coordinators.

Junk Guild

• Lowe Guele-(Natural) Engineer, pilot, and technician for the Junk Guild. Pilots the MBF-P02 Gundam Astray Red Frame mobile suit. Operates from the HOME, with the mysterious Professor, Kisato Yamabuki, and Liam Garfield.
• Prayer Reverie-(Newtype/Coordinator?) pilot of the YMF-X000A Dreadnought Gundam. Had extremely good Newtype potential; this is due to the fact that he is a failed Al Da Flaga clone. Rival of Canard Pars. Dies in November C.E. 71 due to flaws in the cloning process.

Serpent Tail

• Gai Murakumo-(Coordinator) Leader of the Serpent Tail mercenary company, and pilot of the MBF-P03 Gundam Astray Blue Frame. First met Lowe Guele at the remains of Heliopolis. Goes where the money takes him, and friends with fellow pilot Elijah Kiel.
• Elijah Kiel - (Coordinator) Gai's wingman, pilots a custom ZGMF-1017 GINN with a blade-like head crest.
• Loretta Adja - (Natural) Explosives expert and mother of Kazahana Adja.

Gundam Seed Destiny

ZAFT/PLANT

• Shinn Asuka: Protagonist. A Coordinator born in Orb. After losing his parents and younger sister Mayu Asuka during the Orb invasion of C.E. 71, he moved to PLANT and enlisted in ZAFT. Dullindal finds him and he becomes a pilot of the Impulse Gundam. Very talented 16-year-old pilot. Wears the red uniform meaning he belonged in the top class of his military cadet school. Arrogant and proud, aggressively disdainful of the Orb Union and its ideals. Blames Uzumi Nara Athha (and his daughter Cagalli) for the deaths of his family.He has a mobile phone keepsake from Mayu. Asuka also possesses a SEED factor.
  • Like Kira Yamato who is named after Japan's historical Yamato period, Shinn is named after the Asuka period.
• Lunamaria Hawke: Coordinator and crew member of ZAFT's latest ship Minerva. Wears the red elite uniform like Shinn Asuka. She is also a MS pilot and uses ZAFT's latest MS, the ZAKU Warrior. Her ZAKU is red, rather than the standard green.
• Gilbert Dullindal: After signing the Treaty of Junius (the Armistice Treaty) as the successor of the Temporary Council, he becomes the Chairman of the Supreme Council. He pushes forward with Clyne's political ideals and is deeply trusted by the common people. Currently seeking reconciliation with the Naturals.
• Rey Za Burrel: Blonde bishounen and crew of Minerva. Possessed with high combat training, he pilots the commander class MS ZAKU Phantom. He never loses his cool. Has a Newtype reaction to Neo Lorrnoke.
• Yzak Joule: Commanding officer of the ZAFT army's Joule Team. Wears the white clothes that other commanding class officers, like Talia, do. Pilots a Slash ZAKU Phantom that uses close quarters combat equipment.
• Dearka Elsman: Member of the ZAFT army's Joule Team. Doesn't wear the red uniform of a top gun but the green uniform of an ordinary and pilots a ZAKU Warrior.
• Talia Gladys: The appointed captain of Minerva. She possesses excellent ability and great decision making skills. In one episode, she is shown sharing her quarters with Dullindal wearing nothing but a bed sheet wrapped around her, but it is unknown if the two were lovers before or after Dullindal came aboard the Minerva.
• Meyrin Hawke: - Sister of Lunamaria and the communications officer onboard Minerva.
• Arthur Trine: - Executive officer of the Minerva.
• Mad Abes: - Minerva's tech crew team leader.
• Youlan Kent: - Member of Minerva's tech crew. Friend of Shinn.
• Vino Dupre: - Member of Minerva's tech crew.
• Malik Yardbirds: - Minerva bridge personnel. Mans the ship's helm.
• Chen Zheng Yi: - Minerva bridge personnel. In control of weapons systems.
• Burt Heim: - Minerva bridge personnel. Mainly in charge of detecting the enemy and other things.
• Meer Campbell - A singer who is impersonating Lacus Clyne for political reasons. Accompied by a red Haro.
• Haine Westenfluss- An elite pilot that was also given the special FAITH insignia. He belongs to Athrun's FAITH squad and pilots a GOUF Ignited. Previously piloted an orange Blaze ZAKU Warrior.
• Shiho Hahnenfuss- An elite pilot that wears the red uniform that the top cadets of the military cadet school receive. She piloted the ZGMF-515 CGUE and YFX-200 CGUE Deep Arms; assigned to the Joule Squadron before the end of the Bloody Valentine War, she participated in the Seond Battle of Jachin Due. Now pilots a purple Blaze ZAKU Phantom. Had a personal insignia of a red Housenka flower on her CGUE DEEP Arms.

Earth Alliance

• Sting Oakley - The pilot of the Chaos Gundam. A special forces member of the Earth Alliance, he sneaks in the night previous to the launching ceremony of the Minerva at Armory One. Second-generation "Living CPU" pilot, using neural enhancements and brainwashing instead of drugs.
• Stellar Loussier - The pilot of the Gaia Gundam. Also a special forces member of the Earth Alliance. Behaves like an ordinary girl, but shows abnormal strength during combat. For some reason, she wears a ZAFT uniform belt. Second-generation "Living CPU" pilot, using neural enhancements and brainwashing instead of drugs.
• Auel Neider - The pilot of the Abyss Gundam. Another special forces member of the Earth Alliance who sneaks into Armory One. Second-generation "Living CPU" pilot, using neural enhancements and brainwashing instead of drugs.
• Neo Lorrnoke - The commander of a EA Special Forces team (including Sting, Stellar and Auel) who wears a helmet that covers his face and is deeply trusted by his subordinates. Pilots the mobile armor Exus.
• Ian Lee - The captain of the Girty Lue. He trusts Neo implicitly.
• Lord Djibril - Blue Cosmos's new leader who revives the Blue Cosmos and plans the extermination of all Coordinators.

Orb

• Athrun Zala: Now 18 years old. Discharged from ZAFT and defected to Orb. He goes by a pseudonym and serves as Cagalli's personal bodyguard, under the alias "Alex Dino". He makes acquaintance with Shinn and the others when he accompanies Cagalli to the secret conference between Cagalli and Dullindal at the Armory One PLANT. He offers his assistance to Dullindal after the attack and pilots the Saviour Gundam.
• Cagalli Yula Athha: Also 18 years old, she is now a representative of Orb. She is working to achieve peace.
• Unato Ema Seylan: The prime minister of Orb who came into power after the deaths of former chief representatives Uzumi Nara Athha and Representative Homura.
• Yuna Roma Seylan: Son of Unato, when the Minerva arrives at Orb, he is overjoyed to see Cagalli and embraces her much to her and Athrun's chagrin and the surprise of the ZAFT officers. As a result, Athrun later gives Cagalli a ring, sliding it onto her left ring finger without saying much. Presumably this is just a "hands off" message to Yuna.
• Lacus Clyne: After the Battle of Jachin Due, she lives peacefully with Kira, his parents, and Orb's Reverend Malchio looking after an orphanage.
• Kira Yamato: Protagonist in Gundam Seed. Lives with Lacus, Reverend Malchio and the orphans peacefully. Pilots the rebuilt Freedom Gundam after a year. Starting to show signs of being a Newtype.
• Andrew Waltfeld: Formerly a ZAFT soldier, he is now living in Onogoro Island in Orb.
• Murrue Ramius: The captain of the Archangel in Gundam Seed. She now works for Morgenroete, Inc.'s Shipbuilding Section B alongside Kojiro Murdoch and possibly other former Archangel crewmembers. She now goes by the alias, "Maria Vernes".
• Miriallia Haw: She is now a battlefield photographer. Miriallia was seen documenting some of the devastation caused by the fragments of Junius-7 that struck the Earth.

Other

• Mayu Asuka: Shinn's sister. As the Asuka family ran to an Orb escape ship, she dropped her cell phone. Shinn went after it, and a misfire by Freedom Gundam destroyed the hillside the family was on, killing her instantly. Shinn still has Mayu's cell phone and occassionally listens to her voice mail recording, just to hear her voice again.
