This article gives an overview of liberalism and radicalism in Ecuador. Introduction

Liberalism has been one of the dominant forces in Ecuador since the end of the nineteenth century. It got divided and lost influence in the second half of the twentieth century. The Alfarista Radical Front (Frente Radical Alfarista) and the Ecuadorian Radical Liberal Party (Partido Liberal Radical Ecuatoriana) are two small remainders of the traditional liberal current.
