A lifejacket is an article of protective clothing that is designed to keep the wearer floating above the surface of the water.
They are often colored in bright colors, like yellow or orange to maximize visibility for rescuers and some types have additional signalling devices such as whistles.
In some countries, they are compulsory on dinghies and on other larger boats you have to have at least the same amount or more of lifejacket than the amount of people, it is considered one of the security features
