Lifesavers Lifesavers

Lifesavers - Definition and Overview

LifeSavers is a traditional American brand of hard candy. The ring shaped candies are packaged in rolls of about 15 pieces. LifeSavers was a subsidiary of Kraft Foods before being purchased by the Wrigley Company in 2004.

Lifesavers were first created in 1912 by Clarence Crane, a Cleveland chocolatier. The candy got its name due to its resemblance to a life preserver.

In recent years, they have expanded the brand to include LifeSaver Minis, LifeSaver Fusions, Creme Savers, and Creme Savers soft candy (gummi bear-like creme savers).
