Lindbergh Operation - Definition

The Lindbergh Operation, named in honor of American aviator Charles Lindbergh, was the first ever transatlantic surgery. Doctors Michel Gagner and Jacques Marescaux removed the gall bladder of a 68-year-old woman in Strasbourg, France from New York. The network used for the transmission of the signals was an ATM fiber optic connection provided by France Telecom.
