Liner - Definition and Overview |

A liner is a big passenger ship where the passengers can sleep onboard. It is so called because many liners belonged to a type of company called a shipping line.
From this usage was derived the word airliner, and in science fiction the word spaceliner. In science fiction stories the word "liner" sometimes means "spaceliner".
