List of WWE pay-per-view events - Definition and Overview

The World Wrestling Entertainment monthly hold an annual pay-per-view event. One event is usually three to four hours long and feature between seven to ten matches. Pay-per-view events are a big part of the revenue stream for WWE. Along with World Wrestling Entertainment, other professional wrestling organizations hold monthly pay-per-views as well, such as Total Nonstop Action.

Traditionally, World Wrestling Entertainment has a once-a-month pay-per-view schedule, which they had from the late '90s until 2003 totalling to twelve a year. But as of late, they are beginning to produce more pay-per-view events, which totals to approximately fourteen or more.

Note: These pay-per-view events could switch from their respective brands to the opposite brand (ex: Armageddon 2003 was a RAW exclusive event but Armageddon 2004 was a SmackDown! exclusive event). Royal Rumble, WrestleMania, SummerSlam and Survivor Series are joint productions of both RAW and SmackDown! These events could also change dates making them occur in a different month. The listing above is as the events were held in 2004, with the exception of New Years' Revolution, which was added in 2005.
