List of islands of Croatia - Definition

A vast majority of the Adriatic sea islands are located near the northeastern, Croatian coast.

These are the larger ones, sorted approximately from the northernmost to the southernmost ones:

• Krk (quite large, has an international airport)
• Cres
• Lošinj
• the Brijuni islands (a national park)
• Goli otok (previously known as a prison, translation: "naked island")
• Rab
• Pag (cheese! lots!)
• Susak (a handful of people speaking their own language)
• Olib
• Silba
• Ist
• Unije
• Dugi otok (translation: "long island")
• Ugljan
• Pašman
• the Kornati archipelago (also a national park)
• Iž
• Murter
• Zlarin
• Šolta
• Drvenik
• Brač (known for its stone quarries)
• Hvar (the sunniest one)
• Vis (inhabited since ancient Greece, previously a naval base)
• Korčula (the most populated one)
• Lastovo
• Mljet (includes a national park)
• the Elafit islands - Koločep, Lopud, Šipan
• Palagruža (a tiny, southernmost one)

All of the islands are tourist resorts these days.

There are two peninsulas, too, Istra and Pelješac.
