This is a list of national legislatures, whether parliamentary or congressional, that act as a plenary general assembly of representatives with the power to legislate.
Notes
- In addition to their unicameral national parliaments, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, and Panama and also return directly elected deputies to the supranational Central American Parliament. Since acceding to the Parliament in February 2004, the Dominican Republic will also shortly be sending a delegation of deputies.
- In addition to their national parliaments, the nations of the European Union also return directly elected members to the supranational European Parliament. The most recent elections—and the first elections for the newly acceded countries—were held in June 2004. See European Parliament election, 2004.
- The Parliament of Serbia and Montenegro will be merged combination of independently elected National Assembly of Serbia and National Assembly of Montenegro for next two years.
