List of web comics - Definition and Overview

This list of web comics includes comics which are (or were) primarily published on the World Wide Web, as described in the main article on web comics.

The dates shown after a name relate to the period during which the comic began appearing and, in the case of defunct comics, finished appearing. There is usually a fair degree of accuracy about the starting date, particularly in the case of comics whose archives are organized by date, but because of rights being transferred or the very gradual loss of appeal of a particular strip the termination date is often very uncertain. A double-dot (..) appearing instead of a termination date indicates the comic is still current as of this writing.

The names shown refer to the originators of the character; many have continued to be created by others over time. It is also to be noted that many of the characters appeared in both strip and book format as well as in other media.

Only webcomics which have a Wikipedia article are listed below. Webcomics without a Wikipedia article will be removed from the list.
