Listserv - Definition and Overview |
|
|
Listserv is an electronic mailing list software application, originally developed in the mid 1980s for the Bitnet computer network. It was a key service on that network. The word "Listserv" has come to be used loosely as a generic term for any mailing list application of that kind. However, it is a registered trademark licensed to L-Soft International, Inc., who market the application commercially. For this reason, the term should be used only to refer to the actual product.
