Logan Square is located in Chicago, Illinois. The name may be used to describe Logan Square as a community on the city's north side or the actual square which is the 3-way intersection of Milwaukee Avenue, Logan Boulevard and Kedzie Boulevard. The area is characterized by the prominent historical boulevards and large bungalow-style homes.
The neighborhood is home to a diverse population comprised of Latino and Eastern Europeans as well as a younger progressive crowd attracted to the diversity and bohemian lifestyle as well as large apartments and lower housing costs.
The square is named for General John A. Logan who served in the Civil War, and later in Congress. The square features a 100-foot tall marble Centennial Monument, built in 1918 to commemorate the 100th anniversary of
Illinois' statehood.
