Lom (Bulgarian: Лом, ancient Almus), town and port in northwestern Bulgaria, at the confluence of the Danube and Lom rivers. The town is the second largest and most significant Bulgarian port on the Danube (after Ruse) and is a railway terminus. It is located 162 km north from the capital Sofia.
Lom is famous for its amazing neo-renaissance architecture and its beaches on the Danube River. The town is also the first to build a Community Centre in Bulgaria in the 19th century. Major industries include beer and wine production. There are a number of museums, many monuments and a large park in the north part of the town. Many young people from Lom, after graduating from High School, go to famous universities and colleges in Bulgaria and abroad.
