London South Bank University (previously known as "South Bank University") is a inner-city university with a population of around 18,000 students and around 1,700 staff. Most of the students are from the Southwark area and 56% of the student population are from ethnic minorities. Its main campus is at the Elephant and Castle in South London.

In particular, the university has gained recognition for achievements in Computer Science research, making international contributions in such fields as Formal Notation and Object Oriented Software Engineering in Education.
