In physics, the term boost (or Lorentz boost) is often used for a Lorentz transformation from one frame of reference to another one that is moving relative to the first one with constant velocity. A boost may be naturally described as a hyperbolic rotation in a plane of split-complex numbers. Alternatively, using a basis along light rays, a boost is a squeeze mapping.
