Louis Menand (first name pronounced 'lü-E) frequently contributes to The New Yorker (where he is a staff writer), The New York Review of Books, and other literary magazines. A graduate of Pomona College, Menand received his Ph.D. from Columbia University in 1980 and was Distinguished Professor of English at the Graduate Center of the City University of New York before joining the faculty of Harvard University in 2003.
