Lynda Lopez a.k.a. "Ly Lo" (born 1973 in the Bronx, New York) is a broadcaster, journalist, host of the "GLOW" T.V. show and anchor at WCBS channel 2.
Lynda's parents immigrated from Puerto Rico and settled in the Bronx section of New York City, looking for a better way of life. They had three daughters, Leslie, Jennifer (J-Lo), and Lynda, who was the youngest. As a child, Lynda was shy and a loner. She enjoyed school and was nicknamed "Brainiac" by her schoolmates because of her intellectual qualities. She didn't share Jennifer's desire for the spotlight while growing up.
After graduating from high school in 1991, Lynda enrolled in the Long Island University where at the C.W. Post Campus, she majored in "Broadcasting and Communications". Lynda started her radio broadcasting career at "WBAB-FM" and "WLIR-FM" in New York. She later went to work for the "Party 105" radio station as both Assistant Program Director and Music Director. After working for five years in the radio, she landed a position as entertainment correspondent for the "WPIX" morning show.
In 1993, Lynda was named in the "Who's Who Among American Hispanics." Lynda won the 2001 Emmy Award for "Outstanding Morning News Program".
During the late 1990s and early 2000s, she worked as a VH1 VJ for a short time with Kane and Rebecca Rankin. In 2000 she hosted a "special" in which she interviewed her sister, Jennifer. The two of them discussed their childhood as well as J-Lo's rising music career. Some of J-Lo's music videos were played and her "newest" video, "Feelin' So Good", made its VH1 premiere during this special.
In 2002, she became the host of Style Network's "GLOW", a cable T.V. show dealing with women's beauty issues. That same year, Lynda was also reporting the latest entertainment news and stories on NBC's channel 4 and Telemundo's channel 47, a Spanish language T.V. station.
Lynda became a deejay for "WNEW-FM", where she met her future boyfriend, Chris Booker. In October 2003, she joined "WCBS" Channel 2 as a part-time correspondent, after her show was dropped at "WNEW-FM". In August 2004, Lynda was named anchor of WCBS's weekend morning show, making this her first news-anchor job.
