MEPIS MEPIS

MEPIS - Definition and Overview

MEPIS Linux is a Debian-based Linux distribution founded by Warren Woodford which can be installed onto a hard disk or run as a LiveCD. It is very easy to use (user-friendly) and includes the latest versions of KDE, OpenOffice.org and more. The first version of MEPIS was released on May 10, 2003.

MEPIS will be splitting into two versions, ProMEPIS and SimplyMEPIS. ProMEPIS will be geared towards technology enthusiasts and developers, while SimplyMEPIS will be targeted to home and office users.

A copy of SimplyMEPIS was included in the 2004 book Point and Click Linux.

MEPIS is an acronym for Managerial, Educational and Personal Information Systems.
