Maarkedal is a municipality located in the Belgian province of East Flanders. The municipality comprises the towns of Etikhove, Maarke-Kerkem, Nukerke and Schorisse. On January 1st, 2004 Maarkedal had a total population of 6,386 (3,105 males and 3,281 females). The total area is 45.63 km² which gives a population density of 139.96 inhabitants per km².
