Macallan Single Malt - Definition and Overview

Macallan single malt whisky, also called The Macallan, is produced at a distillery called Easter Elchies House, in the Speyside region. The Macallan is matured in oak sherry casks brought to the distillery from Jerez, Spain.

The distillery produces a number of vintages, the most generally available being the 12-year-old, though the 18-year-old is also well known. An ultra expensive 30-year-old can also be found. The Macallan is one of the ingredients of the Famous Grouse blend.
