Magomed Omarov (died February 2 2005) was the deputy Interior Minister for the Russian republic of Dagestan. He was assassinated by armed gunmen a month after the government prevented a terrorist attack reportedly similar to the Beslan school hostage crisis. Omarov narrowly escaped another assassination attempt in 2003.
