Marc Johnson, born in Omaha, Nebraska on 21 October 1953, is an American jazz bassist, composer and bandleader.
Johnson started playing with Bill Evans in 1978, and remained in Evans's trio until the pianist's death in 1980.
His first record under his own name, recorded in 1985, was Bass Desires, with Bill Frisell and John Scofield on guitar, and Peter Erskine on drums.
