Margaret de Bruce, 3rd Countess of Carrick - Definition and Overview

Margaret de Bruce was the daughter of Robert de Bruce of Scotland. During the Scottish Independence War she was captured and locked in a cage for about a year. After that she was locked in a nunnery for about 8 years. When she was finally set free she married. She died around the age of 20 when thrown from her horse; she had already been weakened by pregnancy. Her son lived and became King Robert II.
