Marianne Fredriksson (born Gothenburg, March 28, 1927) is a Swedish author. Before becoming a novelist, she was a journalist on various Swedish newspapers and magazines, including Svenska Dagbladet.

So far, she has published eleven novels, all of which have been translated into English, German and other languages. The central theme in her writings is friendship because, acccording to Marianne herself, "friendship will be more important than love" in the future.
