Mariucci Arena - Definition |

Mariucci Arena is the home arena for the men's ice hockey Minnesota Golden Gophers of the University of Minnesota Twin Cities. The arena is on campus and seats approxmently 10,000 fans. The Arena was open in the early 1990s and is named after John Mariucci long time Gopher coach who is considered the "godfather of Minnesota hockey." The women's team played at Mariucci until 2002 when they moved to a smaller on campus arena known as Ridder Arena.
Mariucci Arena will host the 2005 West Regional of the NCAA men's ice hockey tournament on March 26 and March 27, 2005. It will host the 2006 Frozen Four in women's ice hockey on March 24 and March 26, 2006.
