Mark Rypien - Definition and Overview |
|
|
Mark Robert Rypien (born 1962) was a U.S. (Canadian-born) football player. He was named the MVP (Most Valuable Player) in the Super Bowl of 1992, after passing for 292 yards and 2 touchdowns.
Rypien was named to the Pro Bowl in 1989 and 1991.
Following the Redskins championship season, Rypien played poorly. His passer rating plummeted from 97.9 in 1991 to 71.7 in 1992. During the 1993 season he would lose his starting job and become a journeyman backup.
His last touchdown pass came in relief of Philadelphia Eagles' quarterback Ty Detmer. It was an 8-yarder to Irving Fryar scored with five seconds remaining in a 37-10 rout by the Indianapolis Colts.

MOSSey3535: Honestly I think that we're delusional as #canucks fans if we want Hordichuk in versus Wellwood. Lately Rypien is a better fighter anyhow. |

TylerKepner: @BrentSGambill @BloggingBombers Rypien and Aikman ain't coming back. Your teams are pathetic. I guess you wouldn't like 100+wins since 2000. |
