Market Drayton is a market town in Shropshire, England. It is reportedly the home of gingerbread, though this may be a cynical ploy on behalf of the town's Chamber of Trade. It was the birthplace of Robert Clive ("Clive of India"). Despite its small size and rural location, the town has developed a cosmopolitan outlook and has forged successful links with its twin towns of Arlon in Belgium and Pezenas in the south of France.
Local highlights include the nearby Hawkstone Park - a beautiful and enormous folly which was used to represent Narnia in the BBC's adaptation of C. S. Lewis's books.
The A53 by-passes the town and there is a large yoghurt factory on the outskirts too.
