Marple is part of the Metropolitan Borough of Stockport (http://www.stockport.gov.uk), in the South East corner of Greater Manchester, United Kingdom. It is close to Derbyshire and is bordered by Hawk Green, High Lane, Marple Bridge, Mellor, Moor End, Strines and Mill Brow.
The area covers just over 11 square miles (28 km²) of attractive countryside, ranging from heavily wooded valleys to hill-top moorland. It rises from around 80 metres above sea level at the River Goyt to 327 metres at Cobden Edge. On a clear day it is possible to view the four counties of Cheshire, Derbyshire, Lancashire and Yorkshire from the top of these hills.
The town is served by two railway stations: Marple and Rose Hill Marple.
It's secondary school - Marple Hall (http://www.marplehall.stockport.sch.uk/) - sits on the site of the ancestral home of Isherwood family.
