Marvan Atapattu (born 22 November 1970) is a Sri Lankan batsman. He is technically adept, although he shows an initial tendency to poke at anything outside offstump and chop an inswinger back onto his stumps. Once settled, however, he is difficult to get out and as a result has scored six double centuries. Atapattu's career started with a thump, having scored one run in six innings over a period of seven years. His game has improved steadily and his test average now pushes around 40. His one-day international average is about 37. He is a decent fielder with an accurate throw.
