Mary Baldwin Pitt (1750 – January 6 1832) was the wife of William Herschel and the mother of John Herschel.
Born Mary Baldwin, the daughter of John Baldwin, she married John Pitt, who was a friend of the astronomer William Herschel. They had a son, Thomas, who died before the age of six. When Pitt died, she remarried Herschel and they had a son, John, who also became an astronomer and was one of the leading scientists of his day.
