Mask of Light (Japanese: 光の仮面 Hikari no Kamen) and Mask of Darkness (闇の仮面 Yami no Kamen) (Lumis and Umbra in the English-dubbed anime) are fictional characters in the anime and manga, Yu-Gi-Oh!.
Mask of Light and Mask of Darkness are two members of the GHOULS organization, which is run by Marik Ishtar (Malik Ishtar in the original Japanese anime and manga).
The masks duel Yugi Mutou (Yugi Moto in the English anime) and Seto Kaiba in Duel Monsters (originally named Magic and Wizards) twice. The first duel was fought in an alley, and Kaiba and Yugi won the duel in very few turns. The second was fought on top of a 50-floor skyscraper. It was to be a two versus two duel. Once any player's life points hit zero the surface they were standing on would break and send that duelist on a fifty-story plunge to the bottom floor--and their death. (In the English dub, it is explained they would fall to the Shadow Realm.)
During the first half of the duel, the Light and Dark Masks had the advantage. The reason for this was simple: Kaiba refused to work with Yugi. In the end, Kaiba summoned the Immense Divine Soldier of Obelisk Mask of Darkness. Dark Mask caught a flag pole with his parachute instead of plummeting to his death. Light Mask, however, became possessed by Marik. Marik, who was very angry (understandably), used his Millennium Rod to take over Light Mask's mind and told Yugi that Katsuya Jonouchi (Joey Wheeler in the English anime) was now under his control.
In the duel, Light and Dark Mask's decks were made of monsters that were based on masks. (ex. Masked Hellraiser) Light and Dark Mask's decks were made to work with each other, and to take down Yugi and Kaiba, and gave them an advantage.
