Matt Williams (rugby coach) - Definition

Matt Williams the rugby coach is presently (2004) the head coach of the Scotland national rugby union team. He works for the Scottish Rugby Union full-time, and is the first foreign head coach of Scotland. He is Australian, and from Sydney. His first assistant coach (forwards coach) was New Zealander Todd Blackadder and the second is Ulsterman Willie Anderson. Williams was appointed after Ian McGeechan stepped up from the Scottish head coach role to become the SRU's Director of Rugby, shortly after the end of the Rugby Union World Cup in 2003.
