Maun, Botswana - Definition

Maun is considered to be the tourism capital of Botswana.

Once a BaYei village meaning place of reeds, it became the BaTawana (Ngamiland) center of government in later years.

It has a busy airport that opened in 1996, a number of restaurants, hotels, small shopping centers and most safari companies have an outpost in Maun.

Visitor attractions include the various craft shops, the Maun Educational Park and the Maun Historical Society's Museum and Craft Gallery.
