Maxthon (formerly MyIE2) (pronounced "max-ton") is an alternative interface for the Windows version of Internet Explorer. The most current version is 1.1.120, released on January 8, 2005. Maxthon seeks to provide all of the features of Opera and other feature-rich browsers, but without losing any of the compatibility of Internet Explorer. It competes directly with Avant Browser and other Internet Explorer shells. However, as a shell, Maxthon offers several superficial enhancements (see features list below) but is still Internet Explorer and is subject to all of the flaws and advantages of that browser.

Features

  • Tabbed Browsing Interface
  • Programmable Mouse Gestures
  • MaxUpdate - an automatic updating service
