May East, a.k.a Maria Elisa Capparelli Pinheiro, Brazilian, is a musician and an activist. As a musician, she started her career as a singer in the band Gang 90 & Absurdettes, circa 1980. in 1984 she released in Brazil and The Netherlands her first single, "Fire in the jungle / Índio", and some months later, her first album, "Remota Batucada". The music was an original brand of electronics, folklore and new wave pop. Her work anticipated what would be known in the future as "world music". May East also released the albums "Tabapora" and "Charites". She moved to England and then to the Scotish community of Findhorn, when she focused in ecological activism and started working with lectures and seminars. She recently released new albums: "Cave of the heart" (with the Findhorn Community Chorus), "Cosmic Breath" (with her husband Craig Gibsone) and "1001 Faces" (solo album).
