Memepool Memepool

Memepool - Definition and Overview

Memepool is a multiple-author weblog that lists links to interesting, obscure, weird, or funny items on the web along with a smattering of commentary. Items will often include multiple links whose contents conflict or comment on each other, in a fashion similar to the old sarcastic stylings of Suck.com. Postings to the blog are sporadic: sometimes several in a day, sometimes none for a week or so.

Unlike many weblogs, Memepool has neither a commenting system that would turn it into a discussion forum nor any significant element of self-revelation by its authors that would turn it into a journal. It simply consists of links, categorized and dated, with a searchable archive, presented with a degree of wit. Memepool therefore does not host its own "community"; nevertheless it is a well-known site within the world of weblogs and is a common fixture on the "blogrolls" commonly found in the margins of other blogs.

Memepool was founded in 1998 by Joshua Schachter and Jeff Smith, making it something of a veteran among weblogs.
