A memorandum is an informal, or recorded, form of communication, usually used by businesses from executives to employee's.

Typically a memorandum follows this format, very much similar to a e-mail:

TO: (To whom it is going to) FROM: (Who the sender is) DATE: (The date when the memorandum is being distrubuted) SUBJECT: (What the memorandum is about)

Opening statement, that states the purpose of the memorandum.

Discussion segment, where you talk about the subject of the memorandum.

Closing statements, the closing statements of the memorandum that tell the reader what you want them to do.
