Metal Gear: Ghost Babel is a stealth-based game that was developed and published by Konami for the Game Boy Color. It was released in Japan in April 2000; the North American release followed in May.

The game is part of the Metal Gear video game franchise. It was released outside of Japan under the name Metal Gear Solid. It is not to be confused with the PlayStation game of the same name, though the retitling is generally considered to have been an attempt to increase the game's sales in Metal Gear's most popular markets.

Although Ghost Babel is visually similar to the first Metal Gear, it adapts a number of gameplay elements introduced in the PlayStation MGS. The game's story contradicts the MGS story in some places, possibly limiting Ghost Babel to the status of a gaiden (a side-story, which are often non-canonical).
